Create a Welcoming Entry on a Budget

Recently I was hired to stage model homes for the Paeonia community in Tallahassee. Aside from the initial landscaping, no additional curb appeal elements had been addressed for these homes. I wanted to share the before and after photos of this curb appeal makeover to show just how easily you can enhance your home’s curb appeal, and on a tight budget!

Because The Elloree model home is new construction, the exterior was fresh, clean and ready for exterior décor. If your home isn’t, be sure you tackle any necessary cleaning before you start. I recommend power-washing doors, siding, walkways and driveways to remove mildew, and cleaning windows so that they sparkle.

The curb appeal elements I selected for The Elloree model included a decorative door wreath with monogram; a welcome mat; a glass and metal lantern; a lush fern and lightweight planter. I also used an acrylic wreath hanger that is colorless, and essentially “disappears” so that it works with any paint color.  With these five key items in place, the plant selection and wreath can easily be changed out at any time to provide seasonal interest and variety.

Because we were working on a tight deadline, all elements were purchased locally. The total cost for materials for this makeover was just $80, which just goes to show that even a small investment can greatly enhance your home’s curb appeal.
